Invest in Lubań
20-03-2013

Around 1220, on the left bank of Kwisa river, Czech settlers set up a town called Lubań. Almost 8 centuries have passed since this event. During this time the town has grown to be a crucial communication node, as well as, an important economic and cultural centre in the eastern part of Upper Lusatia. Borderlands of Upper Lusatia and Lower Silesia regions have always been a place where various cultures, ideas, religions, political, economic and military interests blended. As a consequence, the cultural landscape of this region gained a unique shape. One can easily find here both the ‘spirit of the past’ and the positive energy of the ‘present time’. The cultural heritage of the old town inhabitants allow us to move back in time on a marvellous journey. Moreover, a great number of different social events like music concerts, street theatre performances, local fairs and historical events show the town in a new light. This cultural offer is also enriched by many conferences focused on the region, as well as various exhibitions.

Owing to the large number of information boards located near the monuments and a  vast offer of leaflets devoted to each of them, one can have an exciting tour across the old Lubań. On 14 boards you can find the basic information related to each object; more information can always be found in the leaflets. For tourists who want to get an in-depth knowledge of the region, we are preparing a pack of guidebooks full of both content and pictures. Furthermore, on the last Saturday of the month starting from May to October, one can talk about the old Lubań with members of Town History Recreation Group who walk through the town centre in historic clothing from 12:00 to 13:00 (more on this on: XVII century town watch). During the week, tourists may also visit Regional Museum and Lubań History Centre, where they can see exhibitions devoted to the history of the region, as well as get detailed information on various subjects.
